Sambusa & Somali Tea with Mahado Ali and Matt Mason

Wednesday, June 28, 5:30–7:30 p.m.

Join us for a class featuring Somali culture through food, conversation, and dance!

You’ll learn how to make traditional Somali tea, sambusa, and a tamarind chilli sauce. Try new flavors and techniques with the instruction of Mahado Ali and Executive Chef Matt Mason. This class will also offer an introduction to Somali greetings and Dhaanto dance. RSVP to let us know you’re coming!

Latin Cooking with Maria G. Ruiz and Chef Matt Mason

4 – 6 p.m.

Come learn to make authentic tortillas, salsa, chicken flautas, and more from scratch!

Maria G Ruiz from Long Prairie, MN will share her process and tips for making traditional, homemade Mexican cuisine. Attendees will utilize unique kitchen equipment like the molcajete to prepare salsa verde and wooden tortilla press to make fresh corn tortillas.

Chef Matt Mason will partner in the kitchen to show off his spicy salsa skills. Are we talking about fancy footwork or the perfectly-paired tortilla chip dip? RSVP to find out! (Various spice levels available for milder tastes).

Just Juice: A Class for the Young and Young at Heart

Wednesday, April 26, 2017
4 – 5 p.m.

At this hands-on class, participants will get to hold, smell, and taste the fresh ingredients and the delicious fresh-pressed juice! You’ll learn about the seasonality and availability of produce in MN and the benefits of drinking fresh-pressed juice from Jami Nelson, food entrepreneur and owner of Just Juice.
